The Chinese Flame Tree is an attractive deciduous tree with a rounded canopy and a relatively short trunk. Its feathery double pinnate foliage turns a clear yellow to bronze in fall. Abundant panicles of fragrant vibrant yellow flowers bloom briefly in late spring to early summer, and are followed by attractive lantern-like seedpods that mature to rosy pink in fall. Grows best in full sun and well-drained alkaline soils. Tolerates a range of conditions, including: drought, salt, air pollution, poor soils, and clay soils.
